The Safir Group continues its journey towards performance by integrating sustainability principles into its businesses. The focus on reducing carbon emissions and optimizing resource use in the Group's activities has led to the implementation of its first project converting solar energy into electricity.
Two photovoltaic power plants, with capacities of 700 kW and 550 kW respectively, have been installed on six buildings of the Safir Group to produce green energy. In total, over 2,300 photovoltaic panels, with a capacity of 530W, have been installed on a surface area of 5,700 square meters.
The total estimated energy production for the next 20 years is over 28,760 MWh for both plants and will partially cover the estimated energy consumption needed for the operation of current activities.
By implementing this project, the Safir Group will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 888 equivalent tons of CO2 each year of operation. This is roughly the annual emissions of 193 gasoline-powered vehicles in a village with over 600 inhabitants.
The Safir Group has started the process of developing a sustainability strategy, through which it will set the directions its businesses will take towards sustainability, as well as objectives and targets for the coming years.
